2. Description of the Related Art
Conventionally, an apparatus having an engine, a catalyst and a pipe for connecting the engine and the catalyst, for example, a car or a truck, is arranged to execute a blow-by operation for discharging the exhaust gas from the engine to the outside without passing through the catalyst. In the blow-by operation, the engine is brought into a rotation (i.e., a drive state), an amount of intake air sucked into the engine is increased so that a pressure in the engine becomes larger than a preset pressure. In this manner, the blow-by operation is executed. The blow-by operation is carried out when the engine is in the operation state, for example, the engine is in the low-speed drive state. This operation state is continued during the time from when the engine is started to when the engine is warmed up.
